If you own a Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphone and is wondering when your device will receive the recently launched Android 10 update along with the One UI 2.0 then, you are at the right place. Here, we will share with you all the information related to the Android 10 update for the Samsung Galaxy S9 along with the One UI 2.0.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Official Android 10 : OneUI 2.0 release date

One UI 2.0 will be based on the latest Android operating system, the Android 10 or the Android Q. Moreover, there are reports that claim the One UI 2.0 will be rolled out for the eligible devices in the latter part of the year which is probably around December 2022. The next year’s flagship i.e. the Samsung Galaxy S11 series will come with the One UI 2.1 and Android 10 out of the box. Samsung has previously tested out the early versions of the Android 10 on the Galaxy Note and the S-series of smartphones.

However, there is no concrete report that will give us more details as to when the Android 10 or the One UI 2.0 will arrive for the Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphone. But, Samsung’s Developer Conference which is due on October 2022, will give us more fruitful and insight deed s on the One UI 2.0. We have previously covered a post on how the One UI 2.0 will look like with all the details and video as well. You can check out that post by clicking the button below;

Samsung’s Android 10 Update with One UI 2.0 Leaked

Moreover, you can see various new features in the Android 10 running on the Samsung Galaxy S10+ with One UI 2.0 on top. Below is the list of new features and enhancements that the video shows;

New Gestures

The first thing that the YouTuber shows off, is the new navigation gestures. These are the same navigation gestures that Google recently revealed for the Android 10. For those of you who are not aware of the new navigation gestures that Google is going to introduce with the Android 10 is that now you can swipe from either left or right to trigger the back button gestures. Moreover, the swipe up will take you to the home screen as you would normally do.

Personally, if you would ask me, I am pretty habitual now with the navigation gestures which is already there and do not understand the need to introduce such changes in the navigation gesture system. However, it is great to see that OEMs are now working in tandem to bring the same features for the users as rolled out by Google.

Quick Settings

The second feature that the YouTuber, Dudu showed off in the video is the new quick settings. Now, you can see in the video that there are new tiles for the quick settings icons. This might be one of the aesthetic changes that the One UI 2.0 brings in. Moreover, this time the quick settings will take up the entire screen of your device and fill it up with the quick settings tiles. The adjustment is done by shifting the clock to the upper position and all the remaining space is taken up by the tiles. Again, if this video is legit and Samsung do add this feature of quick setting tiles taking up the whole screen with the new version of the One UI, I will be its biggest critic.

For a simple reason, Samsung brought the One UI for its devices to make their devices more easy to use with one hand. But, now with this new aesthetic change, the tile is spread all over the screen making it difficult to reach for the tiles positioned at the top and just putting to ashes the very existence of the One UI. We will have to wait and see whether this is actually implemented or not.

Security Settings

Next feature that the YouTuber shows off is the new security settings. The two new security features are “Local” and “Privacy“. These two sections will now include all the new security features that Samsung will be adding on with the Android 10 on its devices. However, these options were not explored by Dudu in the video, so we are unclear about these. But, it will allow the user to have more privacy control and permission control. These features are Android 10 specific and are not the exclusive features of Samsung devices.

Not known for the speedy delivery of the updates, Samsung is not able to gear up and catch up with the update delivery cycle of other OEMs like the OnePlus, Huawei or even Xiaomi. Samsung, however, delivered the updates a bit faster as compared to previous years after the launch of the One UI. However, as Samsung has to tweak and make the One UI compatible with the Android 10 which is why you can assume that the updates for the Android 10 as well as the One UI 2.0 will take more time. Moreover, the roll-out process of Samsung is also pretty slow so, you have to wait and buckle up for it.

One UI 2.0 – Features

The new One UI 2.0 is sure to pack in a lot of new enhancements and features for the Samsung devices. Moreover, there are certain reports that claim that Samsung will bring the One UI 2.0 for the Samsung Galaxy smartphones pretty soon. However, the next year’s flagship i.e. the Samsung Galaxy S11 series will come with the One UI 2.1 out of the box with Android 10. One UI 2.0 is expected to come with features like the Digital Wellbeing, Focus Mode that allows the user to concentrate on their work rather than there mobile phones.

Also, the One UI 2.0 will have features like the new Android 10 based navigation gestures, new and completely revamped quick settings, Android 10 based security settings, etc.

Moreover, the One UI 2.0 is expected to arrive at the smartphone later this year or early next year. Besides, the recently launched Galaxy Note 10 series will be the first to get the One UI 2.0 upgrade whenever it is rolled out by Samsung. The Galaxy A series of smartphones that also include the Samsung Galaxy S9 is under the Quarterly update cycle of Samsung. However, there are no concrete reports about the One UI 2.0 or the Android 10 for the Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphone.
