Sony has released a new firmware update for the WF-1000XM3. The updates brings the following changes:
- Allows the DSEE HX and Equalizer to function simultaneously
I do not use DSEE HX myself on my devices but for those who do, combining the both the equalizer and DSEE HX is now possible. Thanks to MrWalkman for bringing this to my attention.
The updates includes the following previous changes from past firmware updates:
- Fixes an issue where the volume operations are not correctly applied while the music is paused, even when operated from the smartphone
- Fixes an issue where the volume adjustment bar is unintentionally displayed on some smartphones
- Improves general performance
- Improves the quality of hands-free calling
- Adds support for Amazon Alexa
- Adds the ability to adjust the volume using the headphones touch sensor
- Adds the ability to check the battery level of the charging case using the Sony | Headphones Connect app
- Improves connectivity with iOS
- Improves other functions
- Improves connectivity with Windows 10, resolving an issue where on some specific builds of Windows 10, sound would not playback after Bluetooth pairing
- General performance and stability improvements
Also update for anyone curious. Still no new Sony headphones have appeared on any certification site, so either they (WF-1000XM4 for example) have been delayed, or nothing was expected to be released anymore this year. There is always a chance some non-Bluetooth headphones will appear but those do not pass through any wireless certifications.
If anything new shows up, I will be posting it on the blog right away, so make sure to bookmark if you have not already.
